It is important to never approach bears or try to feed them, as this can put you and the bear at risk. • "What should I bring?"
Anglers are strongly encouraged to dress for the weather and unexpected weather. This means bringing layers, as temperatures can fluctuate throughout the day. Additionally, some guests find themselves getting wet while on the river chasing fish, so bringing a spare change of clothes is appropriate if you deem it necessary. Don't forget a hat and polarized sunglasses, which will protect your eyes from glare and help you see fish beneath the water's surface. Kodiak Anglers will provide all necessary fishing gear, including rods, reels, and hip waders. Finally, it's always a good idea to bring a personal water bottle and any snacks or medications you may need throughout the day.
  • "Do I get to keep my fish?"
At Kodiak Anglers, you get to keep the fish you catch! We have partnered with the Kodiak Island Smokehouse, where you can choose from a range of processing options that include standard fillets as well as creative processing methods that the smokehouse has pioneered. You can rest assured that your fish will be processed and packaged with care by experts in the field. Plus, you don't have to worry about reinventing the wheel - thousands of guests come to Kodiak each year and successfully transport their fish home with them.
